This New Study Is Blowing Up Cancer and HRT Fears

hrt after uterine cancer

Someone in our private HRTU membership recently asked:

“What’s the actual risk of cancer recurrence for uterine cancer survivors who need HRT?”

We get this a lot. And it’s a great question.

While breast cancer gets most of the attention when discussing hormone replacement therapy (HRT), uterine (endometrial) cancer has historically had a huge data gap.

Until now.

A 2025 Study Every HRT Provider Should See

Published in Current Problems in Cancer (Oct 2025), a new retrospective cohort study looked at 176 endometrial cancer survivors over 36 months. The intervention? Estrogen-only hormone therapy.

What did they find?

“No significant difference in recurrence rates between HRT and placebo groups.”

  • Recurrence rate with HRT: 2.3%
  • Recurrence rate with placebo: 1.9%

Xing et al., 2025

Even though this was a small study using non-bioidentical estrogen, it aligns with the growing body of literature showing that properly prescribed HRT does not increase cancer recurrence.

That’s huge.

Because if we’re being honest, fear of recurrence is one of the biggest reasons clinicians avoid prescribing HRT post-cancer.

But here’s what’s really costing lives…

What Women Are Actually Dying From

The data is clear:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Osteoporosis (especially hip fractures)
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s

These are the top killers of postmenopausal women.

And they are all preventable with timely HRT.

In fact, between 2002 and 2012, an estimated 18,000–90,000 women died prematurely from non-cancer diseases due to clinicians avoiding HRT after the WHI study.

Let that sink in.

What This Means for Clinicians

This isn’t about throwing caution to the wind. It’s about rebalancing the risk equation.

Because while cancer gets the emotional spotlight, the math tells a different story.

As a provider, your role is to:

  1. Practice shared decision-making
  2. Present actual data
  3. Recognize that lack of hormones is not benign

Women don’t just suffer from hot flashes. They break bones. They lose cognition. They develop metabolic disease.

And the tragedy? These outcomes are often preventable.

HRTU Helps You Prescribe With Confidence

Inside the HRTU Master Course, we dive deep into:

  • Hormones and cancer: breast, uterine, prostate, and more
  • Interpreting risk: bioidentical vs synthetic
  • Clinical case studies and protocols
  • How to speak to your patients about risk and benefit

If you’re a medical provider and you still feel uncertain about prescribing hormones…

It’s not because you lack intelligence.

It’s because you’ve been fed fear, not facts.

And we’re here to change that.
